Ace shooter Abhinav Bindra won the individual gold
medal in 10m Air Rifle during the ongoing Asian
Shooting Championship at Doha on Friday, January 13,
2012. He shot
597/600 in Qualification Round and was at 3rd
position. In the final round, the Olympic champion
scored of 104.1 and secured the gold medal.
Two Chinese shooters - Zhu Qinan & who were 1st and 2nd at the
start of the finals with a score of 598 were ranked
2nd and 3rd. Gagan Narang was ranked 4th with a
score of 595+103.2
Meanwhile, senior Air Rifle men team won the silver
medal. The team consisting of Abhinav Bindra (597),
Gagan Narang (595) and Sateyndra Singh (582) won the
silver medal. China and Korea won the gold and
bronze medals respectively.
In
Free Pistol men event, the trio of Om Prakash (554), Omkar
Singh (548) and Amanpreet Singh (548) stood 7th. None
of the Indian shooters could qualify for the finals of
Free Pistol event.
